Southeast Asian countries step up efforts

As the world's second largest producer of natural rubber(NR),Indonesia is expected to produce 2.4 million tonnes of the commodity this year. The country is covered with around 3 million ha of rubber plantations and witnessed a 7% increase in its rubber output every year over the past three years,according to the Director of the Rubber Research Centre,Chairil Anwar. Meanwhile,Thailand,which has around 2 million ha of rubber plantations,produces an estimated 3 million tonnes a year,making it the world's largest producer of NR.
