Spanish company Merquinsa's newly-launched renewable Pearlthane EcoD12T95 TPU, which previewed at the K show last year, is said to be the world's first TPU to be made from renewable resources. The patent-pending material is based on 38% of renewable material as certified according to ASTM-D6866. The company says that Pearlthane Eco shows similar properties when compared to conventional TPUs of the same hardness, while processability in injection moulding has been proven equal or slightly bee better in terms of cycle time.
