Government business secretary Lord Mandelson has unveiled a package of loans for car manufacturers and their major suppliers.The cash is formed of pound 1.3bn from the European Invest-ment Bank and a further _pound ibn to fund investment in eco-friendly vehicle development.Speaking in the House of Lords,he said around one million jobs are dependent on the British car industry,which contributes pound iobn to the overall economy.It was therefore essential,he explained,to provide help.
