Polyurethane is a real workhorse in the world of commodity polymers and you probably think that you know everything worth knowing about it,right? Well,it might be time to look again.At the risk of stating of the obvious,I think it's safe to say that we are dealing with an extraordinarily versatile material here-polyurethane can take the form of anything from soft and flexible foams,to stiff,structural parts,via squishy elastomers and remarkably strong components that look solid,but are in fact foamy at the centre.With properties like this,the list of applications for polyurethane is perpetual,but here are some of the most exciting examples I have found.
