A New Device for Syringe-Assisted Liposuction

Sir:Machine-assisted suction devices are not always available, particularly in the office-based setting. In such cases, or when it is the surgeon's preference, the technique of syringe liposuction can be used. In this technique, the cannula is attached to a syringe that creates a vacuum when the plunger is withdrawn. Some surgeons still prefer this technique of aspiration, because it allows liposuction to be performed in a much slower and potentially better controlled manner, with less trauma. It also allows for the continuous quantification of the fat removed and for its accommodation in a sterile deposit, thereby permitting its subsequent use as an autogenous fat graft
