Reply: nipple-areola complex evaluation in long pedicled breast reductions with real-time fluorescent videoangiography.

We would like to thank Dr. Brunworth et al. for their humble observations with regard to real-time fluorescent videoangiography in a long pedicled breast reduction. The authors clearly display the benefit of intraoperative laser-assisted indocyanine green angiography. They are to be commended. In brief, the perfusion to the nipple-areola complex during a reduction mammaplasty appeared adequate by clinical evaluation. However, the superior portion of the nipple-areola complex displayed poor intraoperative areolar fluorescence. This poorly fluorescent area then correlated to the area of postoperative necrosis.
