Discussion. Recent Canadian plastic surgery graduates: are they prepared for the real world?

Ferron et al. provide an interesting report of a Web-based survey of the satisfaction of attending staff plastic surgeons with their own individual plastic surgery training experience. They have designed a survey instrument to assess the degree to which these plastic surgeons believe that their training appropriately prepared them for the rigors of contemporary plastic surgery practice, based largely on a Likert-type scale. The study focused on the population of residents who have completed their training over the past 10 years. In total, 173 residents completed their training during this interval in Canada, and 80 of these recent graduates completed the survey. The study is well designed, and there are important insights to be gained from this work.
