Paper production costs have been affected not only by the steep increase in energy prices, but also by the various restrictions set by environmental legislation. This has highlighted the role of energy efficiency in enhancing the overall efficiency of paper production. . Improving the energy efficiency of one part of a paper machine has an effect on the efficiency of other parts of the chain. For example, measures taken to enhance energy-efficient dewatering in the forming section may lead to a corresponding improvement in the efficiency of dewatering in the press section. We are continuously working to find new solutions to reduce production costs. This article presents several tangible approaches at the machine wet end. Such action can range from process adjustments and maintenance to new upgrades and rebuilds and even entirely new technologies to ensure higher sheet dry content and reduced use of vacuum, drive power and steam consumption.
