Sutureless Sulcus Fixation Ring to Prevent Intraocular Lens Dislocation in Zonular Weakness During Phacoemulsification
Abstract: A new sutureless sulcus fixation ring to prevent intraocular lens (IOL) dislocation in moderate zonular weakness during phacoemulsification is described. This device has an S-shaped contour and is made of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) having openings at the rounded ends. Sulcus fixation ring can be administered both before and after IOL implantation. It can be placed on top and on the edge of the IOL optic. Sulcus fixation ring provides a more stable IOL, as well as it is opposed to the capsular fibrous contraction.
