摘要

The potential role for intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI) in pediatric neurosurgery is extensive. Intraoperative MRI allows the neurosurgeon the opportunity to guide the surgical treatment of the nervous system with real-time imaging and frameless stereotactic navigation. This article reviews the experience in two different iMRI centers. The most common neurosurgical procedure done in these pediatric patients was craniotomy for tumor. Intuitively, the benefits of iMRI appear to be at their greatest in this setting. The neurosurgeon has immediate feedback concerning both tumor location and extent of tumor resection. This capability has provided a distinctive opportunity to improve the safety and efficacy of tumor surgery in the pediatric neurosurgical patient.
