摘要

A new test apparatus was designed to best simulate heat and water vapor transfer from the body skin through a fabric to the environment under real conditions. Two evaluation indices, i.e., dry bulb coefficient and wet bulb coefficient, were introduced to describe heat and water vapor transfer properties of the fabrics qualitatively. The test results indicated that these two parameters are able to differentiate the heat and water vapor transfer properties of the fabrics at steady-state. Furthermore, it is convenient to calculate the total heat flow from the skin through the fabric to the environment using dry bulb coefficient and wet bulb coefficient under the condition that the wet bulb temperature ranges from 16 to 27 °C.
