摘要

Peritonitis is still a significant cause of morbidity and technique failure in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients (1). Advances in connectology have significantly reduced the overall incidence of peritonitis, particularly that caused by gram-positive organisms (2-4). However, the incidence of gram-negative peritonitis remains at a steady level and so they have become proportionally more important. Gram-negative organisms now account for 20% - 30% of all PD-related peritonitis (5,6). Moreover, gram-negative peritonitis is often more severe and associated with worse outcomes (4,7,8). Therefore, gram-negative peritonitis remains an issue in PD.
