This issue of Peritoneal Dialysis International contains an important paper from a work group of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) (1). Their long-awaited paper addresses the prevention of peritonitis in adults. Many months of labor wentinto the manuscript, which was assembled by a team of experts from around trie world. Together with the 2010 infections recommendations in adults (2), the new paper sets out current knowledge about peritonitis in patients on peritoneal dialysis (1). The hope is that both papers will be widely used to improve outcomes in patients on peritoneal dialysis within various programs.
