There are approximately 26000 peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients in the United States (1). Complications associated with PD catheters include catheter obstruction, pericatheter leak, outflow failure, cuff extrusion, and exit-site infections (2,3). PD catheter rupture is uncommon but has been reported (4-6). In this report we describe a case of spontaneous rupture of a siticone PD catheter that could not be attributed to previously reported causes.
