PU foam at heart of Thai students' Solar Decathlon entry

Bangkok — Panels of polyurethane foam were chosen by Bangkok students building a flood-resistant home for entry into the Solar Decathlon Europe 2014 contest. The team from King Mongkut's University designed its Adaptive House based on the needs of residents of the district of Bang Khun Thian, a suburb in the city's south-west region prone to flooding. The team's two-floor steel structure comprises sandwich foamed polyurethane between panels of fibre cement for the insulation.
