Polyurethane ballast-protection subject to university study

Madison, Texas — Uretek Holdings has developed a polyurethane rail-ballast protection system that will be studied by the University of Wisconsin-Madison's College of Engineering. Tuncer Edil, emeritus professor of geological engineering, said the PU material developed can be injected into deteriorating ballast though piping, potentially reducing line maintenance closure times.
