Daejeon, Korea - Polyurethanes are vital to a new range of wearable batteries, according to Researchers at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. According to work published in Nanno Letters published by ACS, researchers led by Jang Wook Choi, have successfully used polyurethane fibres to separate nickel and lithium foils incorporated into a textile battery. Polyurethane was chosen because it shows greater conductivity after soaking in electrolyte compared to other materials. The batteries can be incorporated with flexible solar cells. The batteries can also withstand at least 5000 folding events, say researchers.
