On the basis of the analysis of used bricks retrieved from an actual cement kiln, corrosion tests were conducted to bring alkali salt mixes containing CaSO_4 in contact with bricks in a reducing atmosphere. The results of the test ascertained that it closely simulated a cement kiln in production. Brick B, which contained more spinel aggregate that brick A and whose texture was made denser than that of brick A, showed better resistance to corrosion by an alkali salt mix containing CaSO_4 than brick A.
