With the UK in a run-up to the May 6 national elections, any potential change in government from Labour to Conservative belies a fundamental truth: when it comes to nuclear energy, there is increasingly little daylight between the two major British political parties. Both embrace nuclear energy as one necessary component of a climate change solution, and while both oppose formal government subsidies for new nuclear reactors, they both appear to be moving toward increasing indirect subsidies.
