Since 2005, oil production in Texas has doubled, and a new shale is experiencing increased drilling activity. According to M. Ray Perryman, founder and president of The Perryman Group, the Cline shale is a "whale of a shale." In his 2013 article in Odessa American Online (www.oaoa.com), he stated that the shale may "go down in history as the largest shale play ever." It shares many of the same characteristics as other liquids-rich plays, such as the Eagle Ford and theEakken shales.
