摘要

An investigation was performed in order to reduce spalling and joint wear in Al_2O_3-SiC-C bricks for the torpedo car lining because these types of wear are found to be primarily controlled by thermal stress during operation. As a result, the following effects of additives were found to improve the deformability of the brick under load. 1) The use of a special pitch increases maximum strain at fracture and decreases thermal expansion under load. 2) Optimization of metal content produces good deformability as well as good corrosion resistance.
