摘要

The regional variation in stone composition within this study reflects analogous analyses of distributions in other countries, and the authors present similar explanations for these variations including dietary, hydration, and temperature differences in the disparate regions of Turkey. This study is a good step toward the characterization of kidney stones in Turkey. However, the analyses could be strengthened by filling in some of the variables that may support the authors' hypotheses. For example, the authors suggest that diet may influence stone composition, but only anecdotally report on dietary patterns in the different Turkish regions. More information on the specific diets of the various regions would greatly strengthen these reports and contribute to future analyses.
