This is a retrospective study comparing the incidence of ocular complications after hand-assisted laparoscopic donor nephrec-tomy (HALDN) and open donor nephrectomy (ODN). As the authors stated, "donation is an act of altruism"; therefore, the donors must not experience undue complications. After adopting laparoscopic techniques for donor nephrectomy, the number of living donors had increased because of the well-known advantages of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery in comparison with open surgery. Currently, HALDN is routinely used in many centers all over the world.
