The authors deserve to be commended for revisiting sclerotherapy as an option for treating varicocele. With due credit to the technique described, we present our own comments on the study, along with our observations based on anatomical considerations while operating on varicoceles. Coming from a dedicated uro-andrology unit, one would expect a large percentage of infertile males to have bilateral varicoceles. Although compounding variables could have been eliminated by inclusion of unilateral left varicoceles alone in the study, we would like to know from the authors whether a similar approach has been attempted for bilateral varicoceles as well.
