A 45-year-old woman with an asymptomatic, extensive bladder mass.

A 45-year-old African American woman was examined in the obstetrics and gynecology clinic for a 3-year history of dysfunctional uterine bleeding and irregular menses. In the evaluation for a potential endometrial ablation, a pelvic ultrasound was ordered, which revealed a 5.3 by 3.5 cm papillary mass extending from the bladder wall into the lumen (Fig. 1). On the basis of the findings of this imaging, she was referred for urological evaluation. She had not undergone a urological evaluation previously.
