Characterisation of the effect of shot blast cleaning in blasting machines

Abrasive blasting, included that in airless shot blasting machines, comprises casting cleaning and shot peening. Castings, after they are knocked out of a mould, are subjected to cleaning and fettling. Cleaning and fettling methods are used to various extent depending on the machining stage (preliminary and final cleaning, fettling), type of product (rough casting, instrumentation), surface condition, type of product material etc.
