An interview with W. Hespers, the director of the German innovative enterprise CLAAS GUSS GmbH, was made by M. Franken, the deputy editor of "Giesserei". From their conversation it results that the contemporary conditions of competition and also of the new manufacturing techniques indicate the usefulness of the team work of partners producing new goods. At the common table it is just the foundryman who holds a central position. Such a team work guarantees the elaboration of a new product in a record space of time. Owing to the modern informative technologies it is possible to get an optimum solution of the given task in the desired time. An example is given of the solution of a new part a car gearbox - with the participation of experts and producers from Germany, Belgium and Great Britain. The role has been pointed out which should be played by foundrymen's associations and foundry corporations in the active shaping and rational, collective undertaking of the production of new goods, in which cast parts are of great importance. The activities of universities and foundry institutes in the globalisation epoch, which requires re-orientation of the market and customers requirements is also vital.
