Joining of freezing casings into columns by means of butt welding method for needs of rock mass freezing around abyssal shafts

摘要

The technology of freezing pipes butt welding worked out and implemented by the workers of the Przedsiebiorstwo Budowy Szybow (Shaft construction Company) from Bytom is presented. This technology used at execution of the deep freezing holes for Rudna R-IX Shaft sinking of KGHM "Polska Miedz" S.A. (Polish copper company). Thanks to this freezing pipes welding method there has been no - known from earlier experience - unsealings of freezing pipes columns, which were more than once the cause of considerable increase of the works cost as well as elongated rock mass freezing process duration.
