Current management of ovine vaginal prolapse in the UK

A report presenting NADIS data at the International Sheep Veterinary Society Conference in Stavanger in June 2009 (Lawrence & Laven, 2009) concluded that vaginal prolapse in sheep (Fig. 1) was now significantly less likely (P<0.03) to receive veterinary attention than ten years ago. Using data from prior to the 2001 foot and mouth disease outbreak, the authors concluded that while treatment rates were 1 in 10 prior to 2001, veterinary care was now 1 in 19 in sheep.
