Operationalising concordance: Testing the utility of bech's pharmacopsychometric triangle

In the United Kingdom the Department of Health's policy of 'no decision about me without me' [1] places person-centred care at its core. The message for mental health care is that it should be personalised and individualised, prioritising the wishes of the patient as far as possible in any treatment decision. Running alongside this politico-moral agenda mental health problems are increasingly conceptualised as dimensional constructs that range from normal to pathological [2]. Taken together, this infers that ideal mental health care should be grounded in a dimensional understanding, with partnership driving key interventions.
