Despite the success of HAART(Highly Active Anti Retroviral Therapy)and the evolution of HTV from a lethal to a chronic disease,a number of unmet medical needs remain to be addressed.One of the most important issues is the appearance of resistance and cross-resistance against all available drugs and combinations thereof.Furthermore,as patients will receive treatment for the rest of their life,novel drugs need to be safe,tolerable and easily administered.
