Hazardous chemistry:an overview

Most chemical manufacture involves some degree of risk.In some cases the risks are substantial because of highly exothermic reactions,very toxic reagents requiring special handling or because the reagents are themselves unstable.Such situations are often called Hazardous Chemistries and are practiced by a limited number of contract manufacturers.This segment of fine chemical manufacturing is becoming more important because it imparts economic value and produces strategic advantages to companies able to practice hazardous chemistries.As pharmaceutical companies increasingly wish to avoid direct risks associated with these technologies,opportunities for new projects are growing at double-digit percentages.Hazardous chemistries often offer better routes to new molecules that can cut production costs.
