SSE to convert Sloy to pumped storage

Scottish and Southern Generation, the generation arm of Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) has submitted a planning application to convert the 150MW conventional hydro station on the shores of Loch Lomond to a pumped storage scheme. The Sloy power station dates back to the early 1950s and with a peak generating capacity of 152.5MW it is SSE's largest conventional hydro station.
