Balancing Mechanism volatility stabilised over April (mirroring the levelling off of the recent decline in the wholesale power market), with the average System Buy Price (SBP) down at 43.62 pounds/MWh, compared to 43.86 pounds/MWh last month. This is lower than the level it was during April 08, when the SBP averaged 90.18 pounds/MWh. This reduction in volatility can, in part, be attributed to the general weakness in generating fuel markets and the healthy level of capacity on the system following the return of a couple of British Energy's nuclear reactors.
