The Cave of Vallonnet offers a filling with evidence of human activity, well situated in the Early Quaternary chronology (from 1.07 to 0.99 Ma). The problematic posed is to highlight the characteristics of the evolution of the sediment after its installation and the impact of the anthropic activity (contributions or effects on the sediment). The sedimentological and micromorphological characteristics reveal the dominance of external deposits on internal contribution. The exogenous elements, detrital elements and the osseous rests, have been settled by phases of colluviums materialized by alternating thin layers and coarse levels. Running off is also present and is represented by the coating of fine grains by thin film of red clay. The post-depositional phases are of two kinds: mechanical with fragmentation of stones and bones and chemical with weathering of limestone elements and some bones, precipitation of Iron/Mn oxihydroxides and calcite thus taking part in the enrichment of the fine mass in sandy-muddy particles.
