TWO former rail-linked mining sites owned by UK COAL are amongst five potential locations "short listed" for the development of the next generation of high speed trains. With an extensive sidings network linked to the east coast main line, Gascoigne Wood, a railway marshalling yard before it became the distribution hub of the Selby complex of mines, has made the short list along with the Lounge Disposal Point near Ashby, which serviced surface mine activities in Leicestershire.
