ZERO TARGET

UK COAL's 3,170 employees are being challenged to go a full year without a single workplace accident. The seemingly "impossible" target for employees in a business with inherent safety challenges, takes on a different perspective when individuals are asked: Can you go through an entire year accident-free? Most employees would answer YES -- which begs the question as to why a zero-accident goal may seem so daunting if every employee is committed to working accident free for a year! That single fact has shown UK COAL the way to go in rolling out a zero-accident programme focused on creating a safety culture where everyone feels ownership for their own safety, and the safety of their workmates.
