WEST Yorkshire's Kellingley Colliery is pushing into new frontiers with the industry's first hefty broadband stageloader conveyor chain that will help release the true potential of coal faces --ensuring every saleable tonne possible is moved without a hiccup. Keiiingley is going up a weight with the 42mm chain, which together with a gearless 1,800 tonnes an hour crusher, another first for UK COAL, is designed for high yielding results, opening the door for the long-term reliability of stage loaders. Test bed for the beefed up chain is 310s, just 53 metres of face run containing 105,000 tonnes of coal in the Silkstone seam ... proving the system for 501s, the first face in the thicker Beeston seam being accessed at a cost of around 57 million pounds. The 2.8m thick Beeston face will kick off in September, producing nearly two million tonnes before finishing in July 2010.
