The KP-Dragon index, which tracks the performance of the 20 most liquid Ukrainian stocks, is set to gain more than 25 percent in 2006, following a 42 percent jump in 2005, despite volatility caused by parliamentary elections in March and several more months of political instability. The total market capitalization of Ukrainian stocks stood at USD 32 bn (31 percent of GDP) in November, comparing favorably with regional peer markets. The total trading volume recorded by the PFTS, Ukraine's principal domestic stock exchange, topped USD 1 bn in January-October, exceeding the previous year's USD 670 mn and demonstrating increased investment activity.
