TO THE EDITOR: Physicians are called upon increasingly to assume administrative responsibilities and directorship roles,1 and are met with systemic complexities, limited training opportunities, and a historical focus on academic accomplishment above leadership development.2 For early-career physicians, a leadership position may entail supervising peers and more-experienced doctors,3 fueling shifts in medical management from traditional top-down models to more collaborative approaches.4 Fostering leadership skills to match this evolution is in demand globally, and a 2010 call to action by the World Psychiatric Association emphasizes the promotion of leadership specifically among early-career psychiatrists (ECPs).5
