AS. Byatt is a novelist and critic. She taught at the Central School of Art and Design and the English Department at University College, London, before becoming a full-time writer in 1983 Her latest novel is A Whistling Woman It is the fourth novel in a quartet and follows on from The Virgin in the Garden, Still Life and Babel Tower. Other books include The Shadow of the Sun, The Game, The Biographer's Tale and Possession, which won the 1990 Booker Prize.
