Methyl trifluoropyruvate is one of the most favorable building blocks in organorluorine chemistry. By introducing to the molecule of the desired product unique trifluoromethyl group it has become especially useful candidate for the design of potential drugs. MTFP has found application recently not only as a potential electrophile but also as a great nucleophile.
