The 52nd SEPAWA conference:making the history of Europe's chemistry

SEPAWA(SEPAWA-Society of Soap,Perfume and Detergent Specialists(e.V.)stands as a historical landmark in the European Chemistry scenario.The embryo of the association known today under the name of SEPAWA actually took shape in Germany in the 18th century when in 1755 a number of soap and candle manufacturers got together under the form of a guild-type association to join forces and knowledge,exchange views and ideas,compare experiences and share resources.The guild members started discussing about creating a more proper association made of experts in 1892,and soon thereafter the "Association of soap boilers and perfumers" was founded in Munich on 8/12/1900.At that time,the Association also created an official publication called "Soap boiler journal Augsburg".
