First WY plant on hold, doesn't stop NAPG from touting another

Denver-based North American Power Group recently submitted an application to Wyoming environmental regulators to build a 750-MW coal-fired power plant in southern Campbell County. According to the Casper Star-Tribune, the Two Elk Unit 2 is to be located at the same mine-mouth site where NAPG has been working since the mid-1990s to construct Two Elk Unit 1, its first Wyoming project. Construction of the 320 MW, coal-fired unit 1 actually began in 2005; however, it's since ceased due to permitting and financing issues. But, those annoying little building delays didn't stop Gov. Dave Freudenthal from approving a final round of tax-exempt industrial revenue bonding for Two Elk Unit 1. The governor's nod, recently, will provide a nice chunk of change - 445 million dollars of the 655 million dollars - for the project.
