Domestic producers have been pressured less in 2007 by imported coal - international suppliers being much more focused on lucrative opportunities in Europe. But a source cautioned that Southern Company's Kraft and Mclntosh generating stations, long havens for South American suppliers, probably are not poised to roll over to the domestic side, despite the fact that there could be fierce competition. Most likely, as was the case with some good competition recently for JEA business, Colombian suppliers will determine to do what is necessary to retain a toehold at the former Savannah Electric - now Georgia Power - generators. Given significant cost advantages, the Colombians will be difficult to beat.
