Bob Murray's Tower Mine to get 1st fully automated longwall

Determined to put safety anead of other considerations, Bob Murray plans to install at the Tower mine in Utah the first fully automated long-wall in the country. The most prolific independent coal mine operator in the U.S. hopes to have Tower back on line within three months. "We're going to take the men off the longwall, to the extent we can," Bob told U.S. Coal Review. "We've been working on this project for about a year." Tower is UtahAmerican's deepest mine, and Bob said he is determined that it will only be operated under the safest possible conditions.
