CSX coal still big winner in futures market as export news trumps all else

The New York Mercantile Exchange has been extremely friendly to Eastern coal producers during a remarkable few weeks. Not much changed in that regard following the most recent five days of trading on the Central Appalachian Coal contract. Certainly, the rail market lost none of its momentum. The futures market hasn't been as good to producers in the West, and that assessment doesn't need to be revisited.
