Seaborne pushing up CAPP on NYMEX but limited coal is, um, getting seaborne

Central Appalachian steam coal prices are on the move again and this time around there could be a reason. You just aren't going to find it in the United States. NYMEX CAPP steam coal has pushed up close to 74 dollars/ton this past week despite pretty lax trading activity. The reason is likely another jump in the API2 price that is making CAPP sales into Europe - stop if you've heard this before - profitable despite tight terminal space on the East Coast and in the Gulf.
