Met sellers shouldn't fret, China likely to be jumping back into market in a big way

It's well documented that Chinese import volumes of metallurgical coal haven't been coming in staggeringly high numbers recently. It's a fact that has caused some sweaty nights for some met producers, but steel industry consultant Chris Plummer of Metal Strategies is trying to ease those concerns a little bit. He thinks the drought of demand from the country that dwarfs all others when it comes to steel production won't last much longer. While he recognizes a "moderate correction" has oc-curred in China regarding steel demand, he believes the unpredictable Chinese buyers of coal will soon be scurrying back to the market. Plummer even anticipates a decent steel production growth rate for the year following what could be a very strong second half for Chinese producers.
