Ranger Energy to buy National Coal; National to become subsidiary of Ranger

After selling some of its assets to Range Energy earlier this year National Coal has decided the time is right to sell the rest. The Knoxville-based company announced Sept. 28 that has agreed to be acquired by Jim Justice's Ranger Energy Investments. Under the terms of the agreement Ranger Energy will pay $1 for each share of National Coal stock. The price is 35 cents higher than what National stock was trading for on Sept. 27.
